All caskets are handmade by jewelry artist Amadou from Somone, Senegal. Amadou buys leftover skins from Italian luxury brands that are produced in Senegal. That is why all his products are soft to the touch and beautiful to look at.
Amadou (who is Touareg) uses part of the financial surplus to help homeless children with food and schooling. I myself have visited Amadou and have seen what a big difference he makes.
Size of box is 16 cm in diameter.
The Touareg people (or the blue nomads) have a long and proud tradition of working with skins. Originally, the skin came from goats, sheep and lambs that traveled with them. Today, many have settled in West Africa and get skin scraps from e.g. major Italian fashion manufacturers.
