Knitted by the heroic women of Herat. Herat was recently hit by three major earthquakes (Oct 2023) and the women therefore live in tents without access to running water and electricity.
Molly's Heart has ordered a large batch of wool socks from these women. It gives the women an income with associated opportunities. Pt. however, the conditions are chaotic and almost inhuman due to the many earthquakes and due to the regime they live under. Naturally, I said they should forget about knitting socks in this chaos. But messages back from them were, "We still knit everything we can. It gives us the feeling of normality and it gives unity”. Now hold up a spirit and attitude. Respect!
PS: The socks have not arrived in DK yet. But you are very welcome to make a pre-order.
The pictures are of test knitting.
