Visiting the women in Senegal who make the beautiful baskets

In October 2023, Josephine and I visited five different tiny villages approx. 200 km. east of Thies in Senegal. We left Dakar in a rented car and all in all it takes five hours to get out to the women.

I have been there before and the feeling that hits me when I arrive is always intense. It is the feeling of welcoming and openness. And good atmosphere. Although the poverty is severe, the first thing they do is offer tea with a LOT of sugar. Next they start pushing for me to stay for a meal. At the end, they give small gifts. It can be fresh limes, a small basket or the like. biscuit. It's all very touching and sincere.

I am already looking forward to leaving again to start new productions.

Thanks for reading along.

With love, Birgitte
