My way into Tostan

Tostan – Dignity for All

There are many amazing organizations working to lift people out of poverty. One of them holds a very special place in my heart.

A few years ago, I was introduced to Tostan through an acquaintance. I quickly became deeply fascinated by their community-driven development method, which creates lasting improvements in poor African communities. Tostan works on the principle that it is the local communities themselves who create the changes – together. This is done by giving both young and old knowledge about human rights, democracy and practical skills such as reading, writing and mathematics – and much more. With this new knowledge and through a three-year development program, they are given the opportunity to realize their dreams for the future.

Today I volunteer at Tostan 2-3 days a month and also sit on the board.

If you have the time and inclination, I would recommend you watch a short video about an incredibly inspiring woman from one of the small villages who has gone through the training program.

If you want to know more about Tostan, or are you considering contributing, please do not hesitate to contact me at bfm @tostan .dk or birgitte @mollyheart .dk .

Kind regards
Bridget

PS: The picture shows Molly Melching (in the middle next to me) who founded Tostan (hence the name "Molly's Heart"). The rest are our Danish board and ambassadors.
