Molly's Heart expands with project in Kenya

Dear supporters of Molly's Heart,

I have been looking forward to sharing exciting news about our latest initiative in Kenya. As you may know, the country faces challenges such as political and economic inequality as well as climate-related disasters. We want to address these issues and create positive change for local communities.

Background: Kenya has been plagued by drought, floods and locust swarms that have affected millions of people and forced thousands to flee. Urban areas also suffer from severe inequality, with 60% of urban residents living in extremely poor slums without access to clean water and basic sanitation.

Molly's Hearts project: The project we have established is in Nairobi, where slums and street children are part of the city's grim reality. To fight poverty and support the families, we have started a project with women who sew lampshades and cushion covers. By teaching the women these skills and buying their products at fair prices, we want to give them a stable source of income without having to go through the middlemen. If the women can provide for the family, it pulls the children off the street and into school.

Next Step: The women practice intensively, and we plan to transport their handmade products from Nairobi to Mombasa and on to Denmark. We hope to have the first shipment ready before the summer holidays.

I am deeply grateful for your support and look forward to sharing more updates from our project in Kenya. Together we make a difference!

Warm regards, Birgitte, Owner, Molly's Heart
