All baskets are handmade and may therefore vary slightly in size.
The traditional baskets with one or more colors are woven with a colored recycled plastic thread and thereby the beautiful pattern that characterizes Senegal baskets appears. The plastic thread is made from recycled plastic.
Our baskets are produced by a number of women from the Theis Region approx. 122 km north of Dakar, Senegal. These women work hard to provide for their families. Either they work on our products, or they work cultivating their fields. Most of the women's villages do not yet have electricity and water, ie. they have to walk several kilometers to charge their phones and fetch water. Basket weaving has long been the means of earning extra money in addition to cultivating the fields.
