The Serious Situation in Burkina Faso and Molly's Heart

Burkina Faso is facing a serious crisis characterized by violence and insecurity.

Islamist armed groups such as Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) have occupied towns such as Djibo, leading to isolation and a lack of basic necessities such as food and water. These attacks have created a humanitarian crisis with a growing need for aid. Unfortunately, it is not only armed groups that are behind the violence. Government forces and supported militias have also committed serious abuses against civilians, resulting in many deaths and displacement. Humanitarian needs have increased significantly with millions of people in need of assistance.

Humanitarian Crisis and Aid

Millions of people in Burkina Faso are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Access to food, water, electricity and healthcare is severely limited, especially in the areas under siege. The prices of basic goods have risen dramatically, making it impossible for many to buy necessities.

Molly's Heart: Support through Fair Trade

Despite the bleak situation, there is hope for change. Molly's Heart contributes by buying Fair Trade products from the people who are still in Burkina Faso. It is, among other things, our beautiful brass art figures, our leather boxes, leather bracelets etc. We have also just had a lot of beautiful canvas tote bags sewn by refugees from Burkina Faso, who now live in Dakar under difficult conditions. These initiatives help support the local communities financially and give the refugees an opportunity to improve their living situation.

Hope for Change

International organizations and local groups are working tirelessly to provide relief and support to the affected communities. The attention and support of the international community is essential to bring stability and security back to Burkina Faso.
