Handmade leather notebook as a gift: How to choose
A handmade leather notebook is a personal gift when you choose it based on the recipient's daily life. First, think about where the book will be used. Then, choose the format, closure, and paper. This way, the gift will not only be beautiful to unwrap, but also easy to use and fill with personal thoughts.
I understand the desire to immediately choose the most eye-catching book. But a good gift should suit a person, not just a gift table. A few simple questions will make the choice much easier.

Who should receive a handmade leather notebook?
Start with what you know about the recipient. Does she write small to-do lists, does he collect travel memories, or do they need a place for ideas and sketches? You don't need to guess all their habits. You just need to find the most likely situation in which the book will be opened.
A small notebook can be good for a bag and short notes. A larger format provides more space on the page and may be better suited for a desk. Our current selection includes notebooks from Burkina Faso and a smaller model from South Africa. The origin is stated on each product page.
See the entire selection of handmade leather notebooks, and start with the person you are buying for. For me, that's the finest part of the gift. You haven't chosen a random item. You've considered what can fit between the pages.
Which format is best as a gift?
The format determines whether the book feels easy to carry or provides ample space for longer notes. Molly's Heart's current selection includes A6, 13 by 18 cm, 15 by 23 cm, and 16.5 by 24 cm. All mentioned sizes are currently in stock, but inventory may change.
For someone who always carries a bag, A6 or 13 by 18 cm can be a simple choice. For a diary, travel memories, or sketches, a larger format can provide more calm on the page. If you are in doubt, find a book or sheet of paper of roughly the same size at home. Hold it in your hand and imagine the recipient using it.

Which closure makes the notebook personal?
The closure changes both the expression and the small act of opening the book. The current assortment includes a tie string, a small leather clasp, and an elastic closure. The small A6 model has a cover where the notebook can be replaced when the format fits.
A tie string allows for a small ritual. An elastic band is quick for everyday use. A leather clasp can feel more distinctive and decorative. No solution is right for everyone. Consider whether the recipient will use the book often on the go or leave it out as a diary. When we help with a choice at Molly's Heart, we always start with the intended use.

Molly's Heart has several leather products, but the notebook is special because the recipient completes it themselves with words, drawings, or memories. Choose the closure that feels natural for that specific use.
What should you know about paper and variations?
The paper is important because this is where the gift will live. Several current models feature handmade paper. Two of them are described with cotton fiber paper with a light texture, while others have blank pages of handmade paper. Always check the specific product text, especially if the recipient uses a particular pen or intends to paint in the book.
The craftsmanship is also visible in the cover. Embossing, patterns, stones, and the surface of the leather vary from model to model. For the notebook with the onyx stone, it explicitly states that the color of the stone and the pattern of the cover may vary. This doesn't make it any less suitable as a gift. It simply means you are giving a unique item with its own expression.

Read the information on format, number of pages, and material, and let the rest be part of the surprise. This way, you're not just giving a book. You're giving a place where something new can begin.
Thank you for choosing gifts with care.
Warm regards,
Birgitte
