A sisal basket with handles is useful when you want open storage that is easy to move. Our current sisal designs have short handles, an open top and dimensions of around 30 × 28 cm. This shape is particularly suited to smaller items. As the contents remain visible, consider both how you will use the basket and where it will stand.

What can you use a sisal basket with handles for?
The current product descriptions explain that these baskets can be used as bags or to gather smaller items around the home. Think about the things you want to keep together while still being able to reach them without lifting a lid. These might be everyday objects that otherwise tend to move from place to place.
It is easy to imagine many uses for an open basket, but we should only promise what the product information supports. Molly's Heart does not specify a load capacity for these designs, so choose according to their stated uses and dimensions. Our soft storage basket collection includes both smaller sisal designs and larger open shapes. Always read the individual product description before choosing.
What difference do short handles and an open top make?
The short handles give you a clear place to grip when moving the basket. The open top lets you see and reach the contents without removing a lid. This can be helpful if you use the basket frequently. It also means that whatever you put inside becomes a visible part of the room.
Consider what matters most in your daily routine: quick access or keeping the contents out of sight. A sisal basket with handles is well suited to quick access. To compare larger designs, explore our large storage baskets, with and without lids. The shape and opening matter just as much as the material when a basket needs to fit a particular space.

How do you assess the size of a sisal basket with handles?
The three current sisal designs in light grey, mocha and natural are all Medium. The light-grey design measures 30 × 27.9 cm. The mocha and natural designs measure 30 × 28 cm. The difference is small, but the measurements still tell you how much space each basket needs.
Measure the shelf, floor space or surface where the basket will stand. Allow room for the handles and your hand when you grip them. If the basket will sit under a table, check both the height and the clearance in front. These measurements come from Molly's Heart's current product descriptions. As the baskets are handmade, their shape and weaving can vary slightly. Allow for this when measuring.
What do the material and craftsmanship tell you?
The current Medium designs are handwoven from sisal in Kenya. Their product descriptions explain that they are handmade from the weaving through to the final stitch. Each basket is a piece of craftsmanship, with small variations in shape and weaving.
You can choose light grey, mocha or natural, but start with how you will use it. Will the basket stand on display with its contents visible? Do the short handles suit the way you want to move it? Is there room for its open shape? At Molly's Heart, we work towards fair pay and long-term relationships with producers. To explore other materials and shapes, visit our woven basket collection. My best advice is simple: choose for the everyday life your basket will be part of.
Thank you for reading and choosing thoughtfully made craftsmanship.
