Original unique Bolga bags are woven by Ghanaian women on Danish Fairtrade terms. T
The bags are made of elephant grass and are the result of a long-term process and an ancient, traditional craft. Bolga bags are always hand-braided and have leather handles, gathered in a handle.
The majority of producers are vulnerable women who can neither read nor write and who primarily make a living by selling baskets and bags. The area where the baskets are produced, Bolgatanga in northern Ghana, is characterized by extreme poverty.
There are Danish designers and artisans during the process, so the look and style are adapted to the Danish market.
