The most beautiful woven Fair Trade baskets from Senegal. All baskets are handmade and may therefore vary slightly in size, colors and pattern.
XL: 65-68 cm high without lid, approx. 82 cm with lid and approx. 48 cm in diameter.
NOTE: Please note that these baskets are made of elephant grass - and not seaweed. This means that they are moisture resistant and retain their shape.
The leather comes from the local goats that roam the villages.
Our baskets are handmade by women from the Thies region, about 122 km north of Dakar, Senegal. The women work under Fair Trade conditions, which means, among other things, that I pay 5-10 times more for the products than they would normally get in local markets. This fair payment allows the women and their families to live dignified lives, where they can support themselves, their families and send their children to school.
