Shopping cart. Black and Fair Trade from Ghana

Original oval shopping baskets are woven by Ghanaian women under Danish Fair Trade conditions.

A basket is made of elephant grass and is the result of a long process and an ancient, traditional craft. The handles are covered with leather, so it is comfortable to carry.

Measurements: Top: approx. 43 cm, Bottom: approx. 37 cm. Width: approx. 29 cm.

The majority of the producers are vulnerable women who cannot read or write and who primarily make a living from selling baskets. The area where the baskets are produced, Bolgatanga in northern Ghana, is characterized by extreme poverty.

There are Danish designers and artisans involved in the process, so the look and style are adapted to the Danish market.
