Pot baskets are unique baskets woven by Ghanaian women in a wonderful mix of colors and patterns. The handles have wrapped leather handles. The baskets are hand-woven from elephant grass. Fair Trade, of course.
The size is approx. 48-50 cm. in diameter and approx. 28-34 cm. in height.
The baskets can be used indoors and outdoors (withstands moisture but not several days of pouring rain). Use them for knitting, plants, magazines, for bathroom products or anything else.
These beautiful baskets are handwoven in Ghana in West Africa and made from sun-dried elephant grass. They are dyed with traditional vegetable and mineral dyes and non-toxic dyes to produce modern colors.
They are double woven and have a beautiful leather handle that folds away for carrying comfort and accessibility. Each colorful basket can take up to a week to make and no two are alike. What they have in common, however, is that they are made under Fair Trade conditions. Fair Trade trade is a principle where producers of, among other things, craft products in less developed countries are ensured better rights, including higher pay, pay during illness or pregnancy, equal pay between the sexes, ensuring that children do not work instead of going to school and more.
