Laundry basket, multi colored. Fair Trade from Senegal

The most beautiful traditional Fair Trade laundry baskets from Senegal. All baskets are handmade and may therefore vary slightly in size, colors and pattern.

XL: 65-68 cm high without lid, approx. 82 cm with lid and approx. 48 cm in diameter.
Large: approx. 58 cm high without lid, 75 cm with lid and 45 cm in diameter
Medium: approx. 46 cm high without lid, 66 cm with lid and 35 cm in diameter
Small: approx. 35 cm high without lid, 50 cm with lid and 25 cm in diameter

The traditional baskets with one or more colors are woven with a colored plastic thread, thereby creating the beautiful pattern that characterizes Senegal baskets. The plastic thread is made of biodegradable recycled plastic.

Our baskets are produced by a group of women from the Theis Region, approximately 122 km north of Dakar, Senegal. These women work hard to support their families. They either work on our products or work to cultivate their fields. Most of the women’s villages do not yet have electricity or water. This means they have to walk several kilometers to charge their phones and fetch water.

Weaving baskets has long been a means of earning extra money in addition to cultivating the fields.
