On a visit to a small Berber weaving mill at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, we found these completely unique cushion covers made of cactus silk. Cactus silk comes from the Aloe Vera cactus plant. The material is beautiful and durable. All the pillows are unique and upcycled from e.g. sofa rugs, wall rugs, tablecloths etc. It's a beautiful way to reuse the materials and it makes the cushions completely unique, each with its own history and imperfection.
The silk is dyed with colors from plants and minerals and even the very cobalt blue colors come from the 27th element in the periodic table (cobalt). The patterns on the cushions are all unique and no two are alike.
