The bags are made of elephant grass and are the result of a long-term process and an ancient, traditional craft.
The majority of producers are vulnerable women who can neither read nor write and who primarily make a living by selling baskets and bags. The area where the baskets are produced, Bolgatanga in northern Ghana, is characterized by extreme poverty.
There are Danish designers and artisans during the process, so the look and style are adapted to the Danish market.
The colors may vary from the picture as the local women choose for themselves.
